INDORE: MP Road Development Corporation Limited (MPRDC) has decided to set up a toll in Budhaniya village on Indore-Depalpur road for the light commercial vehicles.
According to MPRDCL’s regional manager Rakesh Jain, around 30 KM road from Pitra Parvat to Depalpur was constructed around a decade ago. “Under the state government’s User Fee Scheme, a toll on this road in Budhaniya village will be set up while the operation has been assigned to M/S Maa Sharada Crusher Mines to recover the tax from light commercial vehicles” he said. As decided, toll tax of Rs 45 will be recovered from light commercial vehicles, Rs 105 from trucks and Rs 210 from multi-excel vehicles. “The money to be generated from the toll tax will be spent on maintenance of the road” he said.
There is a proposal to convert this two-lane Indore-Depalpur road into four-lane to ease increasing traffic load and facilitate the commuters. Some of the local public representatives are demanding to start taking toll even from the commercial vehicles after converting the existing road into four-lane.
Meanwhile, local administration has asked Prakash Tollways to not to charge ‘illegally’ from the personal vehicles having RTO registration number of Indore.
The operator has also assured the administration to update its record by accommodating all such personal vehicles registered at Indore RTO, so that, FASTag pasted on it should not be scanned for toll tax. TNN
